  1. LOVE the window!!! I loved the stained glass options you were thinking about but I like this one EVEN MORE! Also, I love seeing more regular content from y'all on youtube! Everytime I see a new video I get so excited! Keep up the amazing work!

  2. JUST TO LET YOU KNOW, IM NOW HERE AND SUBSCRIBED THANKS TO NICKY AND HARRI. Collabs do work. I have renovated a number of properties myself and each and every time I do more and more and more of the work. Each property I do, I try to push the boundaries even more on creating something high end and unique. My latest project I aim to double the size of the house for under 100k. Watching guys like you reinforces my confidence in the fact that us guys who did not train and serve as tradesmen can also do it!!

  3. You might consider a floor drain for the bath. They are used in most hotel bathrooms. Put down the moisture barrier and build up the floor with a concrete bowl sloped towards the floor drain. Build your shower as a cement curb. Use a cement with fine aggravation. After you build the dams, then slope the shower. Then tile over the top of the floor and shower floor. It is the least expensive and best moisture containment I have found other than tacky fiberglass shower floors.

  4. Looks good! The window turned out well. You certainly have a lot to do, but you both seem capable.

Regarding the waterproofing, I’d recommend using a tile backer board like Wedi or Jackoboard (there are other brands too). These not only provide a suitable substrate to tile onto, but the foam core is waterproof, so you just need to seal all the joints and fixing holes. I’d always recommend tanking the entire area, though, just to be certain. Another advantage is that it offers a bit of insulation, which can help reduce condensation after a steamy shower.

For areas with timber, install 18mm plywood over the studs (or between them, if you want to save as much space as possible), then fit a 10-12mm Wedi-style board, securing it with stainless steel fixings. For masonry areas, simply prime the wall and use a suitable tile adhesive to fix the tile backer board. You could tank the masonry directly, but I think it’s better to isolate any potential issues from your tanking especially if you’re spending a lot on the tiles. Use a tanking system like Mapei WP1 or a similar liquid system, applying the tape to all the corner joints.

If you’re opting for wet underfloor heating, you’d probably be best using a cement-based product on the floor, like Hardy Backer or an aluminum oxide board like Marmox. The wet UFH will likely be installed with spreader plates, so you don’t want a foam-based backer board over your heating, as this would insulate and reduce the effectiveness of your UFH. The cement board will provide some thermal mass, especially if you go for a 12mm thickness. Again, you can use the Mapei WP1 system, or other tanking membranes like Impey or Mapei, which can be directly applied to the cement board.

Wedi board can be used over underfloor heating as it has minimal insulating properties, so it won’t cause any major issues with the system. It’s also a great option because it simplifies the process as you’re using one product for both waterproofing and a tiling substrate, instead of layering multiple different ones.

Please, whatever you do, DON’T tile over plasterboard, even if you tank it it’s just not acceptable imo.

One final note, which is probably the most important: I noticed when you did the underground drainage, it looked like you didn’t bevel the ends to a 45-degree angle (maybe you edited it out and didn’t show it). This is a very important part of using underground drainage, as it ensures the rubber seal folds out properly. Without the bevel, the blunt end of the pipe can either slice the seal off or grab it and drag it into the fitting, preventing a proper seal. I’d definitely double-check that, as once the floor is concreted, it’s very difficult to access those fittings without a lot of unnecessary work.

  5. 🫶🏻So happy for you both you are making it look easy now love what you’re doing with the place 🤭 loving the window it’s going to
give the bathroom a great look it’s going to look stunning with your tiles 🫶🏻👏🏻👏🏻

  6. Ahh, your face lit up when you saw the window revealed in the bathroom Paloma. It's absolutely beautiful! It's wonderful that you can share your experiences with Nicky & Harri. They are work horses!
You must be constantly planning ahead. The amount of work you've achieved is incredible. Take good care ❤x

  7. Found you through recommendation from Harri and Nicky. Some advice, a bit more enthusiasm in your voice would be more engaging. At the moment it’s very monotone. No hate, just feel it would go a long way.

  8. My mans, you need to go for flat panel LED spotlights and not the big can type that will involve you punching a massive hole through your insulating layers. The heat they gove off also acts as a pump to push the nice "bought" air inside your house outside through the roof. So best be avoided and go for a solution that doesnt need that big hole.

  9. Hmm – the engineer (and former home renovator) in me has a wee bit of fear when you say you are combining "wet room" with "underfloor heating ." Surely not electric underfloor heating? I would worry about future leaks (even minor) and short circuits/shock potential.

  10. It's great to watch another video of your progress. Have you managed to get your water pipe issue sorted? I thought it may have needed to go under your flooring like the waste pipe? It's great to see you guys, Nicky & Harry all helping each other out😄 Great choice in keeping the window a neutral colour, and I love the tile colours. Your bathroom is going to be so beautiful. Sounds like everything is sealed in now just in time for winter, I hope it's noticeably warmer with your doors & windows in. I'm looking forward to the outside door reveal😊 take care you two.

  11. You guys are doing a great job! I'm so excited to see how this bathroom is going to turn out let alone the whole house! You're very hard workers, I'll say it again I have faith in this young generation! Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖

  12. Aaah, that bathroom is gonna look great. I don't know how you've managed without one in such a long time. That round window will bring so much class into that room. Love the long form style videos. Keep up the good work, you've already done so much!

  13. LOL – I love that you two inadvertently demonstrated why it's important to renovate and set up the bathroom early. By waiting a year and a half, you're now spending more money on the finishes like marble skirting. You've waited so long and worked so hard you are getting the Maximum Value Bathroom to be your showcase centrepiece!!!

  14. Yay! I love your long form videos. I know they are probably tough to pull together – but thank you for making them. It is such great insight into the complexity and reality of the project.

The bathroom is going to be amazing! 👏👏👏
