  1. I came to Number Four after your recent crossover with Harry and Nikki and I'm so glad I did. I've been on a serious binge having watched the last 10 videos in no time. I have to say your commitment to learning a skill and then executing it is unbelievably commendable. Keep smashing it! (not literally haha). Seeing you two take on all these walls is giving me the confidence to really give some stuff a go. I love the plans and the visuals you have created and I can't wait to see how this progresses. Keep up the amazing work! Yours, A new keen subscriber!

  2. You guys are incredible! You have done amazing work and have come so far.
It will be such a wonderful home; a beautiful space.
So exciting! I hope it is smooth sailing from now on (surely, there can be no more nasty surprises!)
    Xx

  3. I know youve been advised by talented architects, but you've made some brilliant design decisions. And your hard work and determination are awe-inspiring. It's a tricky decision as to which door to keep as both arguments have merit (and I certainly wouldn't keep both!).

  4. I vote for a vaulted ceiling in the second bedroom. It's not the biggest bedroom so a vaulted ceiling while help make it more roomy. You also don't want too many different storage areas. One large one is better or you'll just end up dumping stuff up there that's just gonna sit and dust for years. Better to have one area where you store things short term like Christmas decorations or what not. Plus that little nook while be perfect if it ever becomes a kids bedroom. A hidey place for them to play in. But for now it could be a nice place to just have a big mattress and pillows and just use it as a cosy nap place.

When it comes to the doors you both have good points but I am leaning towards the second option. You want the living room more private otherwise those sliding doors are a waste because using the room as a walkthrough will render them useless because you just need to open them all the time and in time they'll just stay open for convenience. Maybe instead it's possible to move the other door a bit to the side so you still have a place for the coat rack and bench. Might be too much hassle though.

  5. I was undecided on the solution to doorgate…but after seeing this video and walk through…I'm afraid I'm with Chris. Sorry Paloma – the whole idea of bringing garbage through the living room – yuk. Chris wins doorgate…

  6. I also agree with Chris. You can still use the majority of the space next to the stairs as you’ve planned. You’re only losing a small shoe stand area which you can relocate within that space with some sensible rejigging. But you’ll regret it if you have to walk through the living room all the time. I had the exact living space Chris is suggesting and the flow worked way better.
As to the vaulted bedroom upstairs, definitely vault the ceiling, and use the ‘child mezzanine area’ as storage space instead.
Also sorry to be doubting anything cos your plans are very lovely, but will you really be climbing up the worlds narrowest ladder to sit in a very cramped book nook? It doesn’t honestly look that relaxing. Perhaps you can utilise that space better? Use it for some epic greenery perhaps? (ie ferns and trailing plants)

  7. Agree with the guy about the door. 10:40 Really? that's not going to get used is it. Most people read in bed or on the sofa. No one's climbing a ladder to sit in a chair & read. Some terrible ideas to be frank.

  8. With the door i agree with Chris. It makes the most sense and is the same reason for why there is the corridor past the stairs that you're now blocking off. By getting rid of the corridor for the utility (which is a good idea) your next best entrance is the door Chris wants to keep, otherwise you are making the whole ground floor open plan IMO.

  9. Messy, scatty… looks like typical reno to me! Massive props to you both. 100% middle room entrance as through living room is a peace killer. Also fingers crossed not too long for showers, i can relate 🙂

  10. Loving watching this come along! You two are awesome. Theres a great video on Charlie DIYte's channel that goes into creating great lighting in a kichen/dining room, that you should definitly check out. Really important to make the lights functional once installed. Really wish i had watched it before doing my kitchen

  11. Yay for y’all job well done! BTW, no one ever meets their deadline, some come closer than others, but on a Reno as extensive as yours, no one meets their demo especially when the homeowners are doing a lot of the sweat activity. You all have done a wonderful job so far, I love watching it❤

  12. I love open plan and the fact I can close it off when I want! love the bi fold doors. The windowis intresting, are you going for stained glass? personally I agree with Chris as you take your shoes off then come in through also doing it that way its easier to get to the kitchen with your shopping so swap it over and have a window in the snug for when you want the light. upper floor plan is much better! At the end of the day you do what is best for you I would look into wet rooms as as you get older its easier.

  13. Absolutely blown away by the amount of work you guys have done! It already looks amazing. Both doors have their pros and cons. I get why Chris wants the door in the other room for privacy, but if that happens, where would you leave your coats and shoes?

  14. I agree with Chris on this, It feels very disruptive to go straight into the living room. But I do understand the appeal of the shoe/coat storage, cant you relocate that somewhere? Under the stairs maybe 🤔

  15. Love what you’re done with the place 🤭 a part on your back for the both of you both of you have been outstanding over this last year I’m so happy for you to let us in to your lives always look forward to see what your up to next keep up with all your great video love them all 🫶🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏻

  16. When you first started the great Door Debate, I was all for closing the study's doorway since it's the smaller of the two rooms. However, now seeing the space in a longer format: I agree with Chris. If you're closing off that main hallway back to the new kitchen space and you'll always be taking the route through the main rooms to get back there, having a private space where you're not interrupted by foot traffic would be more peaceful.
