Tenants in England have suffered over a year of enduring damp, mouldy homes and waiting for repairs. Too often, they are at the mercy of landlords or letting agents who don’t fix properties despite multiple complaints.
Rosa, a tenant in London, was especially affected. After moving in to her rental property, she noticed persistent damp and mould issues. Nervous about taking action, she contacted her landlord who repeatedly refused to do any repairs. After months of back and forth, Rosa reached out to her local council and was eventually helped.
Sadly, many other tenants share Rosa’s plight. Corisande – an experienced tenant advocate – has heard countless stories of disreputable landlords, who are breaching their tenancy agreements without consequence.
In this video, we hear both Rosa and Corisande’s experience and consider the damning extent of this unacceptable practice within England.
