I have ADHD and for the life of me cannot form habits😅 I've tried a lot. I literally have to have reminders for everything, but I'm sure average people form habits, and I'm going to keep trying. I really enjoyed your video, but everything is a task for me. I constantly try to trick my brain.
Oh god…the OCD comments below exhausted me so much I couldn't even watch the vdieo. Maybe tomorrow.
Kallie is right, it's a continuum and a sliding scale. Habit stacking is working for me, the thing I do at night is shut the kitchen down progressively, and then before my personal night time routine, the dishwasher goes on and the small number of dishes I hand wash, are washed and put away, the bench wiped. A quick final check so my morning will run smoother. It's something I do for my future self. I even feel good about just getting it done, and small victories might be the making of my tidy self.
Due to a series of events, I'm becoming depressed 😔… I'm trying to fight through it.. thanks for these videos ❤
*gets sidetracked for 45 min trying to find music and decides to make a new Playlist, then falls down a YouTube rabbit hole… 2 hours later….eh, I need to clean up, oh yea, should turn on a movie since I can't find music… gets lost in netflix, then prime, then Disney… 1 hour later, can't find anything to watch. Guess I better go to bed soon. Lays down and wasted anther hour on YouTube shorts, then switches to motivational videos till I feel like a complete failure, drops phone on face before deciding to turn on a movie or show…. dammit it's 2am. I guess I'll try again tomorrow…
You see my problem??? Am I alone in this?
This is a video I can understand and relate too.And believe me,I have watched a few. This is helpful to me.Thank you😊
THANK YOU!! You are a genius
How’s your pussy though?
I took the 'do one thing at night before bed' on board, even if it's just taking rubbish or recyclable items out to the bin before bed, it works, Thanks.
I have so much trouble being clean. I’m a single Dad, and I want to teach my son how to be a neat person it’s just hard when I can’t even do it.
Shes cool and makes it okay to "not be so big" & thats huge for me, already starting with some ideas…her declutter vids are awsome
What if my mom only accepts perfection 💀
The 15 minute one helped me so much for cleaning my room it was a huge mess not it’s spotless and it only took me 10 minutes
Thank you so much for this. Im the kinda guy that doesn't ever clean because i never have a lot off free time and my brain was just convinced that i gotta do it all at once or even do whole rooms at once. It never occurred to me not only to break it down in sections of my home, but also to break up the time. Which will also lead to better cleaning habits overall. It all clicks now. Thank you so much. Sometimes us guys need our hands held a bit, lol
GREAT CONTENT. YOU SPOKE EXACTLY ABOUT HOW I FEEL
Have a friend say they are coming over.
This have helped me stay motivated to do a little each day to make routine. I always have to have bowls clean for Breakfast to my cat. She wants food at 6 AM. Then the stuff we use is the only thing in the dish tray, is it not clean so we have to do the dishes. We don't get another spoon frome the cupboard, you have to use the one that is in the dish tray. So dishes have e become much easier and much faster to do. Now I wash the dishes many times a day but for 5 min and it is so fun to have a clean counter❤
There actually IS a magic potion for some folks. It’s called medication and it can really help people with depression or ADHD 😊
thank you, this helped today!
Omg what kind of steam mop is that?
Thank you for these tips!
I just cleaned everything in my home yesterday and now I'm looking at tips to keep it that way. Thank you
What if the mess accumulates FASTER than you can clean it in your little 15 minute blocks? I currently do that already but I find the be always doing the same jobs because they are the most pressing and then everything else falls behind
Yes! That part about decluttering is so right! You cannot and shouldn't rush it. People who Hulk-smash trough a massive decluttering event, ridding themselves of almost all of their stuff in a short violent purge, often end up extremely.unhappy and somewjat traumatized, finding they have given away parts of their identity
"our bodies naturally create habits. i'm sure every night before bed you brush your teeth without even thinking about it. your body just like kinda autopilots to the bathroom, right?"
adhd laughter ohhh, absolutely not. my brain does not do that AT ALL.
glad that works for others tho, neurotypical brains impress me lmao
AMAZING VIDEO!!! Thank you!
After 18 years in one place, decluttering is a monumental task. And I've found (1) a box of kitchen stuff I hadn't even opened after moving, tucked away in a bedroom; and tax records which I was holding for the required (5? 7? year) period after assessment from BEFORE that move. Now it's a huge job….and I'm moving interstate so I have to be ruthless. Even with old furniture that has seen better days. The other issue is disposing things responsibly, e.g.giving old spectacles to someone to reuse, not putting dangerous chemicals like paint perfume batteries & old lights/globes in the trash, finding someone with a vehicle to take away furniture & old electrical/data items, dealing with excess paper, worrying about identity theft from my old financial records.
How do you clean two toilets in 3 mins? I feel like I need 15 just for one 😅
This has made me feel so much better, thankyou
Hoarders don’t have a sponge?😂😂😂😂😂 they have a hundred they don’t use.
So many Fly Lady principles. 👍
Lovely video! I turn 60 in a couple of weeks, and have been reflecting on how much more stuff we have in our homes and lives these days. I am sure most of it is unnecessary 😅 my main issue is that organising my inside is much less of a priority than either being in the garden or reading a book. I find that inviting someone over once per week motivates my husband to help clean the house 😊
The first thing I decluttered in my home was my utensil 🥄 🍴 drawer in my kitchen. It’s a small area that I can see quick results. I had a 16 piece set. I decluttered it down to 4 pc set. I donated the rest. Then I bought one of those bamboo slim utensil drawer containers took up half of my drawer space. I had enough room to place my measuring cups and spoons in; thus, freeing up an entire drawer to put my spices in and get them off of my countertops. Now my countertops are clear. I felt so proud of myself 🥹 that I sat down with a cup of coffee ☕️ and marveled over my newly decluttered, organized, cleaner space. Baby steps. 😏 ❤
15 minutes is a looooong time.
I am aiming for 3 times 5 minutes (morning, after work, evening) at this moment
Just a reminder that white sage is an endangered plant and is a closed practice for indigenous peoples only
Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Loved the video. Thank you so much. I picked several things I will begin right away.
thank you
Thanks girl. Its true, starting with 1 space at a time decreases the feeling of defeat. Keep the videos coming.❤❤❤
This is the most helpful video I’ve ever seen that doesn’t make me feel like a hoarder or monster 14:10 but a human. You’ve made the most sense of explaining cleaning/(de)cluttering and perfectionism/procrastination process. You’ve really impacted my life and confidence today. Thank you. 🥹
for people like me who doesn't understand "habits" and who finds remembering to clean your teeth difficult and have to fight with yourself to do it. This video isn't for you. It's based on habits and doing "a little bit each day".
Although, the "don't reach for perfectionism bit is good" 👍
thank you
