This super skinny derelict barn measures 9m X 2.5m and only contains a ladder. This video will show you how I turned this awkward building into a well proportioned comfortable family home. This unique house design is perfect for those looking for ideas to renovate super skinny or long buildings while learning about the architect’s design process.

  1. The renders are very helpful. I think the description did not make it clear that this is just a plan rather than showing build process and results. Would love to see the actual building and results.

  2. Love the design ❤ although I would rather put the bedroom in the back but given the possibilities of going outside from there maybe it's better to put the living area in the back. I do have a narrow house and yes, it's a challenge but it's important to put everything on the same side to be able to move and I find it actually quite cosy like that. Having things put against the walls feels safe and comfy to me.

  3. If allowed, adding a Juliet balcony on the second floor would open the space to the outside and bring in fresh air. Also, adding a garden on the second is practical and a sustainable hot tub would give a bit of luxury.

  4. I love to browse your Ideas about weird and quirky small Spaces/Houses 🙂
However you seem to be very obsessed with huge Seatingspaces / Sofarooms, which in my Opinion are a complete Waste of Space. A cosy big Kitchentable with a Cornerbench is Way more than enough. I've thrown out the whole Seatingstuff, I NEVER used it for else than collecting Dust and Stuff. The Sofa I tucked away into the Corner, it can be pulled out as a Doublebed, so I kept it for now. The Rest of that Space I've converted into a LEGO/sewing/Arts'n'Crafts/Guest/Officeroom which is far more useful now that way, Since that's the only Room in this old House that can be reasonably heated in Wintertime….

  5. This is fantastic. I can't think of a better layout. I like the words you use. Functionality, habitation, and circulation.

Are you a qualified architect though. I couldn't see any details of your degree and RIBA qualification on your website.
