  1. Never, ever reuse a ferrule.
Only use 1/4 turn shut off valves with metal guts ir you will be doing this again in a few years. Dahl brand are the best by far. Only other I use is BrassCraft whose product code starts with a “K”. Not big box stuff. Brass Craft at big box starts with “G” with plastic guts-junk.

  2. HELLO! I had installed 2 shark bite spickets 1 hot 1 cold for my bathroom sink They installed nicely no leaks at all however Only only turns 1⁄4 turn to open and 1⁄4 turn to close at 1⁄4 turn open the water only trickles out How do I fix the scenario so I could get a full wash coming out the bathroom tube spout?

  3. Don’t use a sharkbite angle stop (shutoff valve) i put one on for a customer on Tuesday and when i was tightening the supply line it stared leaking. I had a few in my truck but I was out of the compression type so I had to leave the job and go get a new angle stop.

  4. Also if you don’t have a sharkbite removal tool and adjustable wrench works well too. Just adjust it to the size of the pipe and push against that ring it will release it

  5. Let me just say, This is far and above the most comprehensive and extreemly well explained video on YouTube that teaches you ALL you will need to know for a DIY copper water line valve replacement. Peroid. Thanks buddy, you are fantastic!

  6. I’ve watched 15 videos on this valve and no one mentions the small line fitting. Does the nut require a washer or doesn’t it seal just metal to metal? I didn’t get a washer in the package and no employees were anywhere at Home Depot (typical).

Oh yeah, I paid $13 for 2 feet of solder, $75 for a torch/propane canister and $23 for the 1/2” DOIT valve.

THE REST IS COMMENTARY. DONT READ UNLESS YOU CARE ABOUT CORPORATIONS GOUGING PEOPLE.

Home Depot is owned by corrupt thieves to charge that much. They are making record profits by selling everything at grossly inflated products. It’s sad how people blame the White House for corporate greed. The White House can’t dictate prices. If they tried the same people woo complain about the White House will attack him for daring to make capitalism responsible and honest. Those dummies don’t care about honesty.

  7. I have already change everything, including valve to water pressure regulator. But I still have a toilet that is slowly filling up. What do you think is the problem?

  8. Great info on your video…Question please.
By any chance do they make a shut off valve that you can screw on the fitting of an old style shut off valve? So that you can leave the old style shut off value, (the old style valve no longer shuts off)… This is for a bathroom sink supply line.

  9. Single mom here, just changed my bathroom valve to the sharbite angle shut off valve, the one you just push on.. everything went well and perfect, turned main line back on (no leak!) but for some reason the new sharkbite valve is not turning at all. Any ideas as to why? It's super hard and won't turn on, at least no leaks but not useful if it wont turn on🤯🤷🏻‍♀️(not sure if it's just defective or what😅)

  10. Thank you, I see that this video is 7 years ago. My plumber just told me that SharkBite push on valves are no longer in code now in 2024…? What are your feelings on this? Thanks again for your detailed video!!

  11. I bought the exact tool he recommended if you choose take off the compression sleeve. It works like garbage if you try to take off just the sleeve. It works great if you try to take off the nut and sleeve at the same time.

Having said that the new assembly won’t seat right, going to cut the pipe and try shark bite.

For the other pipes going to try what the top commenter said, don’t remove whole assembly. Just going to replace the valve (leaving old nut and compression sleeve).

  12. Aren't you suppose to remove the little plastic piece from inside the sharkbite unless you are using pex tubing. When you put the compression fitting on are you required to put teflon tape on the threads? Thanks for putting this out there although a few plumbers would rather they get called.

  13. An excellent video and well detailed. Because these are chrome plated replacement valves, the only thing I would personally do different, would be to use an adjustable wrench instead of channel lock pliers. This will minimize scratches to the chrome finish. I have personally used wooden popsicle (craft) sticks, by placing these between the adjustable wrench Jaws and the various chrome fitting nuts. This protects the fittings finish 100%, and you are still able to achieve a leak-free repair.😊

  14. Hi, newcomer here. I like your easy and thorough style. Showing the parts up close out of the wall is very helpful. In Las Vegas, most of us have CPVC pipe coming out and not copper. I wonder how much that changes things ? Thanks 🙂

  15. Thank you so much for posting this video! This was exactly the information I’ve been searching for & you explain everything so well! This has been so much help for me!

  16. What do you do if you turn off the water to the entire house but the shut-off valve continues to leak water? That's my problem and I'm afraid of a flood if I mess with the shut-off valve. The shut-off valve is really old and stiff and I want to replace it.
