Hostas are amazing. I live in 9b. Last November I took the 3 month old plants out of the ground totally cut the leaves and just threw the root balls in black nursery pots with little soil. We had work done and I forgot about them basically. They did get water thrown on them. April I “found” all 4 put them in ground nearly all shade where they were and 6 weeks later they are growing beautifully! Absolute neglect and the roots were still living. I feel bad I did that. lol.
Agapanthus are bullies, and given the chance tend to crowd out more gentle neighbours, so gorgeous though they are, be wary when you plant them. They also seed themselves occasionally, as I’ve found here in the northwest, but are as tough as nails whatever the winter weather.
All plants difficult to look after…..
Great info thanks
