  1. I wrap the base of the main stem (where it meets the soil) in aluminum foil…it keeps the squash borer beetles from depositing eggs/larvae there. I found this tip a few years ago and it works like a dream, no borers!

  2. Early on in both my winter and summer squash the females always flower first. The little mini squash will already have begun to rot before any males flower. Then the males die. Later in the season they start to jive and the bees do their thing pollinating.

  3. In discussing squash bug eggs at @4:37 you showed a pic of their brown eggs on the underside of a zucchini leaf. You didnt mention it, but cool nonetheless: the small fly-looking insect in the pic is in fact a wasp that parasitizes the squash-bug eggs by laying its own eggs within them.

  4. Really good tips. Here on the East Coast in upstate New York. I have a problem with Robins Pulling off the flowers and eating the budding zucchini. It’s a problem initially because they go after them immediately.

  5. OMG Nicole a clip from this video just showed up in new Wisecrack video called “Will We All Work Until We Die?” at 14:11 in that video. I guess the folks over at Wisecrack also love your channel.

  6. Ants farm aphids they Cary them from plant to plant they will also carry the eggs from plant to plant and BT spray is an organic way to stop vine borers I use a piece of cardboard laying on ground under plant to attract squash bugs and I flip over every morning and spray them all with dish soap solution
