  1. What do you do about pests? I have such a terrible time with pests! This year I've fought squash bugs, squash vine borers, Japanese beetles, slugs, caterpillars and hornworms to name a few!

  2. Gorgeous! You're so right about watering with a hose. At our new home, we have not built the permanent garden. I filled garbage cans with rain water and sunk the watering can into it to fully hydrate the raised beds with a measured amount. When out of rain water, I would fill the can with the house. It's good exercise and you know your plants are getting the right amount of water. The permanent garden will have timed drip. Heavy feeders always do well in rich aged compost. Congrats on your self sufficiency!
