Why do I hear my neighbours in my NEW home?

Why am I hearing conversation, TV, doors banging, footsteps from my neighbours in my new build home? Does it not meet building regulations or building code.

Don’t waste your time and energy on trying to get it tested, don’t waste time trying to get the builder or developer back to check…it meets regulations.

But building regulations and the materials recommended by building regulation do not take into consideration noise in homes, especially impact noise like door banging, foot steps and furniture moving.

Even if you managed to prove that it does not meet building regulations for sound insulation because you are hearing everything from the neighbours….Who is going to fix it? Do you think the housing developer has the skills to soundproof your home from the stairs noise, kids running around next door and doors banging?

Unfortunately they will just install an independent wall to a room in your house with some clips and channels and you will loose 100mm of space and you will still hear all the noises you hear now.

Soundproof a new build is complicated….
