You may be surprised by where I learned this planting method originally. (Spoiler: It didn’t come from a gardening book.)
In this video, I’m going to outline my tried and true, game-changing planting method so you can implement it in your garden, too. Don’t worry—there aren’t any charts or lists of information you need to memorize about each plant. Actually, most of the things that stress you out about gardening (e.g., pests, disease, chores) are no longer an issue when you plant this way.

Okay what do you do if you're planting everything by seed because obviously your soil will not be covered? I'm guessing that maybe your doing seedlings in little pots first? Or are you buying your seedlings?
Not sure why it took me so long to understand that you are 100% right! I had my aha moment watching this video after walking around my garden. The most prolific area in my yard is my wild food forest where I’ve let many different types of plants grow under 1 apple tree: “weeds”, planted seeds/flowers, thyme, comfrey, etc etc etc and in comparison, my raised bed garden which was carefully planned and spaced out, is getting eaten by pests and some seedlings and plant starts never make it. There is bare soil (mulch between plants didn’t work either). The most successful raised bed season I’ve ever had was when I let it grow wild (volunteer tomatoes, etc) and didn’t really fuss too much. I wish I had this AHA moment earlier this season but it’s not too late! I am filling all the holes in my raised bed with plants now and forever, even if it’s just flowers and herbs. I am confident that this will be my best season yet! Thank you for sharing and consistently sharing these methods.
I’ve gardened since I could walk! 65 years old now and I was nervous about doing a raised beds (vego planters on wheels) out by my pool area. This is perfect method! I was so used to doing the old “row method” in the ground! Thank you so much! Gardening is such a wonderful passion to so many. And to pass on from generation to generation ❤
Great, you discovered this Japanese method… who probably took it from others lol https://youtu.be/R0d7Hox5J4M?si=ZMTzkR-vDoLi_cgU
Nature is the best teacher of what Eden may have looked like. God's design, perfect harmony. e.g. lion + bull no longer enemies. Crop order will soon be restored across the world.
Are you claiming that you discovered polyculture?
I’ve been planting like this since the 1990’s. My family had very little space to plant and now my husband and I do it at our home. It works wonderfully.
Does this work for grapes as well????
Wow,you have a magic your hand,so maintain a beautiful garden thanks ❤🎉❤🎉
Good point. But just you know, what you do in that bed is thinning, not pruning. Pruning is for trees.
Hello, New follower here 👋🏽 Thank you for all the wonderful tips. What zone do you live in. If you do not mind me asking.
The reason the plants in the desert were close together was because they had grown & not because they were planted tight together.
I've been looking for this theory and will be trying it this spring! Thank you for sharing!
What gardening soil you use?
He was turning 40 and it was a bucket list for him…i feel old now and like i need a list….41 soon…are we old?
please help me. thanks❤
You discovered permaculture for yourself! That's so awesome. It was never any one person's genius idea. Its nature's idea. Thanks for sharing this so so helpful information.
You seen that method they are using to make the desert wall. I guess it collects rain for them. Pretty cool. I want to do this, sky suckers spraying all of us. No sun , Hot sun/ frying crispy plants.
Good luck to all.
Pray not Spray!
You know what else will blow your mind? You can eat parts of plants that don’t get sold in grocery stores as “vegetables and fruits”… carrot leaves, squash leaves and flowers, pea and bean leaves… on and on. You can also eat a bunch of the weeds that show up in your garden.
My bigs always shade everything else out so they don’t get enough sun
This is awesome, never thought of gardening this way. So intuitive. Really grateful that I found your channel. Thank you!
Heavenly Father is glorified in nature!!! Nothing new under the SON..and all is brought forth by the Holy Spirit in truth!
Is all of this because your husband told you to get a job. Pick a different one.
One of the charming things about us Americans is that we can "discover" something that is well known, give it a catchy name, publish a book and a youtube channel and "educate" everyone about it with charisma. I noticed I feel better when I drink water, I call it "hydrate to feel great." Changed my life since way back in fall 2024. Buy my book; coaching available. Also, plants grow well in groups with varying heights ™ and mulch ™, especially in hot climates. I just figured it out myself!
I read a book my Aunt let me borrow called Square Inch Gardening, which did this same thing. Allows us to have more plants in one area. 😊
Can this method work without rasied beds?
I'm so excited to have found you!
Brilliant 😊
👍💯
