  1. Just took out two overgrown Hollie’s and azaleas in front of my home. Looking for something new. Loving the lemon lime Nandina, and the pugster but I want a third plant….something derp green.

  2. BLEH. All the prettiest purples, pinks, blacks, etc. all start in zone 7 at least. Zone 6 has very, very few plants that look that way that can survive outdoors. Sucks.

  3. This is excellent! Any recommendations if I want blue hydrangeas to be the feature plant of the garden bed? They could probably be placed in the middle or back row. What would you pair with them for layering?

  4. Absolutely the best video I've watched on how to pair plants. Those of us who are seriously in need of landscaping help really do appreciate this!!!! This is long so here goes….

I live on the Gulf Coast of Alabama about 25 miles north of the beaches so high humidity and HOT temps 7 months out of the year are normal. The front of my house faces the west so those plants get the direct sun during the hottest part of the day for months. I'm having such a hard time with keeping plants from scorching every single year and have to replace almost every other year. We have an irrigation system and use as we have been told each time we've had the foundation plants replaced. We are not knowledgeable about planting and have tried several landscaping companies spending tens of thousands of dollars combined. HELP! We need to do this ourselves this spring and I feel we've already gotten a late start. What combos out of the ones you've talked about here would be the best for the front considering where we live and the sun bearing down on them most of the day? We live in a nice neighborhood and I'm embarrassed with how our shrubs and beds look already. We need plants that don't require much maintenance since we are honestly dumb about these things. Lastly, we have a white painted brick house so anything with vibrant color at certain times of the year is just icing on the cake. Thank you for any advice you could offer.

  5. I planted Fire Chief arborvitae and honestly, I hated it. It looked dead from a distance, and not much better up close. I ended up taking them out. Maybe it was just my area (Arkansas 7b). Love your videos. I have learned so much. 🙂

  6. That's exactly what I was looking for. Very informative. I've moved from Missouri to Yulee, Florida and I'm trying to find some combination of shrubs that will survive the heat and possible freezes. I had crotons and they didn't make it this winter. What would you suggest.
