  1. Excellent video; thanks for the tips! I guarantee most of the grills you see on the side of the road for garbage pick up are due to folks not bothering to clean their grills. Some don't even cover them. The combination of those two will significantly decrease the lifespan of a grill.

  2. I have never cleaned a single BBQ I have owned in 52 years. I usually get 10-12 years out of them and then throw them away and get a new one. My current BBQ is the most expensive unit I have ever owned. It’s a Napoleon Prestige and it’s on its 18th year on our deck. I tried cleaning it once…. it left grease stains on my deck that were quite difficult to remove. It was a messy, pain in the ass. Lol. Aside from the inside looking bad it still cooks perfectly fine.

  3. Thanks so much for this. Just got my first gas grill and now I know how to care for it.

Question, why are those called flavor bars? Do they do anything in that department?

  4. Can’t stand gas, as it ruins the flavor of the meat. The chemical added to propane and such is called ethyl mercaptan is meant to smell very noticeably bad (cross between rotten eggs and skunk), and impregnates the meat. At typical grilling temps only about 95% burns off based on research studies. Also adds a sour tang to the meat. We all have different sensitivities and ability to taste, but many seem to be able to smell and taste the difference.

We’ve blind takes/smell tested between pan fried, broiled, hard wood charcoal and gas grill. EVERYONE could tell the difference, and the three of the five or so families who used gas grills got charcoal grills after that. Also, just an fyi, studies show how bad that gas additives is for your liver, kidneys, brain and such.

I used to use a gas grill years ago. Now it mainly sits outside since having steaks done via hardwood charcoal. Only used it a few times in the past decade or so to do taste test grilling with people who doubted the difference. For many it is not at all a subtle difference and it is very bad for you regardless of how much you can tell the difference— as well as wether, as some do, attribute the difference primarily to the positive difference added via charcoal, verses the negative gas factors added.

  5. I just cleaned mine yesterday for my dad and was wondering why there was all these chunky bits in the drop tray. Turns out he layers the drip tray with aluminium foil and puts a thin layer of kitty litter to soak up the grease 😂

  6. What do you do with that thick greasy water? I do not want to put it down my drain. I'm tempted to dig a small hole at the end of my property line as a place to dispose of greasy water like this. Just have no idea where to put it

  7. Great video…I'm amazed at the amount of views it has. It says alot about every day people. What I'm trying to say is I can't believe 650,000 people needed to be told how to use soap and water to clean a surface. I'm definitely in the wrong business. Kudos to you sir 👏

  8. Next video: How to clean BBQ grease and grime off your Rolex. Great tutorial but for the love of horology take off your watch instead of dunking it in the same dirty grease water as your grill!
