Just saw another video, a guy using same grout had it setting in 5- 10 minutes, not a pretty job. Turns out mixing with a high speed drill caused it..fyi
I watch your video because you say what you need to say in less than 6 minutes.
You probably just saved me a ton of time and money. So glad this video popped up before I started to grout tonight
It's harder to shift, but a rotary scouring pad will clean the Ultracolour if you're/your buddy is a bit slow. It would be a tough one for a DIY guy though.
I done flooring, countertops, and a few showers. Always "old school" grout. Recent job. Customer got this. I'm not even thinking. Like ok let's grout. NO! This is a different beast. Thank God from experience I started wiping before I normally would have. Just looking at haze I knew something was off. Got through it without problems but could see how that could get out of hand real quick.
If you have never done he is correct. Stay away from. I did apoxy grout when it first come out. Had to call company from pay phone and wait for return call setting there. Reminded me of that. Come to find out the instructions were wrong on carton. Guess I was first to call. From memory was Mapei as well. Customer service said need to change instructions…. Yeah.
I'm glad I watched this! I bought two bags of the ultracolor plus because that is what the sales guy at Lowes told me I needed. Have not started the project yet and I drove to Lowes to return them and get the Keracolor. Thank you!
I picked up the karacolor because it’s just add water mix 2x let it set 10mins before applying and work it normal, easy cleanup comes in all colors .
Dude,Iam helping my sister finish her upstairs shower, and this is the grout she had bought, thank God I seen your video before I started using it,Iam not a professional but Iam not that dumb either, but thank goodness I pulled up your video, because Iam working by myself,so thank you so much for this video,I will only take your advice on this shower!!!!
U are just a salesman
What about tiles floors?
What high wear mortar can I use to fill in gaps to be level with the tile surface?
junk grout buy custom grouts instead.
you are so right about so many things in this video!!!
What exactly does the grout sealer do? Make floor water tight or protect the color of the grout?
Sorry, but you are incorrect about this product. I am a novice tiler who did research before starting my grout job. I mixed 10 lb bag with 1 quart of water. I easily used the amount mixed and had an hour of useful time. Cover 60 sq ft. Waited 20 minute before wiping. The secret is to mix at slow speed for 4 minutes. The Issue is mixing air into the mix.
Follow the instructions. It isn’t rocket science. It is grout, you put it in the grooves and wipe it off.
Using this as well as the kerapoxy in a Queensland summer is hilariously ruthless
I am a low experience, aka only 2 showers.. .but ur recommend NON-sanded…..I thought u need sanded for 1/4 – 3/8 grout spacers to avoid cracking…. is there old school, sand grout that gives u 30 min to work 🎉
thanks again
First tile job (backsplash) without any issue with UltraColor
Is there any way to fix to the problem if it get hard enough to clean it
Besides remember the walls
Oops
Thanks my kid just brought this home for his Kitchen!!!! I would have gone old school without reading the instructions lol
Hi I used this grout after watching this video it was my first backsplash I followed the your instructions and read the instructions very well it does dry very fast. Did one wall at a time. You do have to work very fast. Thank you for the warning on this it would have been a disaster without it. Love you videos they are very helpful thanks again Dave
I wish I saw this video before I ruined my shower 😢. I can’t even express the dread I felt after I realized this stuff set up and I couldn’t wipe it off. Went into panic mode scraping it off. I’ve grouted before as a DIYer and never had issues with working time. Got this ultra color stuff for the first time and made all the same mistakes. I’ve been living with it for 3 years now and have been putting off trying to fix and scrape off the excess in fear that I will realize I just have to rip off the tile and start over
I have used fa with success. I saw this video and let myself get scared, bought something else and botched the tule job. Eff your stupid advice on this.
Thanks
Thank you! I have this exact grout but haven't started yet. You saved my bacon.
We love permacolor grout. But I run 2 man crews as well. There's plenty of good technology in grout with several top brands these days. Yes, always read the manufactures instructions, especially on new product. Customers deserve to be treated right every time.
I think a lot of people buy this product only having experienced the pre-mixed tile adhesive in buckets. I've had friends mix it up and keep it in a bucket with plastic wrap and are shocked to find they now own an interesting sculpture and need a new bucket and trowel.
Jeff Clearly doesn't know what he's talking about here, and certainly just uses the product wrong. I've worked with this grout as a DIYer, the key is to READ AND FOLLOW the instructions. I would bet Jeff mixes this grout with a high speed drill above 350 RPMs – this will introduce too much oxygen into the mixture and will dramatically reduce both its working time and pot life, as is explained in a bunhc of other review/DIY videos. Mix half or full bags below 350 RPMs, abide by the times indicated on the pouch for washing the surface, and you will have ZERO issues. I like Jeff but sometimes he's just plain incorrect.
