@THERUSTEDGARDEN
Thank you. Our butternut squash are lying on the ground. It's one of my favorite but the vine takes up so much space on the ground.
My green beans (5 plants) have beautiful leaves. NO FLOWERS🥺
I have been watch your videos for years now. I have learned so much from your videos and still learning. I am zone 6/6a you talk about still growing summer veggies in July can this zone still grow vegetables in that zone?
Thanks Gry for all your tips and great videos!
Love the video. What are you doing about the lantern flies? I notice you weren't killing them
Hey Gary, I'm in MD too. Are your seeds in the store grown in Maryland? It's okay if not. I just thought oh that would be even better!
Do you have to “hammock” the spaghetti squash on the trellis? Thx and cheers!
I like the suggestion about dehidrating okra and making chips. Will try!
I also plant okra to eat raw! Have you ever tried eating the leaves or flowers? I'm hoping to get a chance to tryit. Last year the plants had mildew and this year there is a rabbit who always finds the okra and the sweet potato leaves! Still trying to get some for us!
Because you mentioned your location, I subscribed. I'm considering planting for a fall salad garden, but that's based upon weed removal to reclaim the space, etc. 🌻
I’m concerned about bugs eating seeds that are directly sown. I tried a winter sowing in jugs and I’m pretty sure it was pill bugs that ate my seeds. Also, my biggest concern is a blight that has taken over everything! Blight and or leaf miners. I would love to see a video on eradication of pests and blight in the cold weather to prepare for a better spring.
Ok so I just saw cage wire in your round tub! Well color me happy! Great idea!
How often do you water your pepper plants? My pepper plants are in compost rich raised bed. I find the leaves dropping and minimal fruiting. I live in Maryland as well.
I'll be putting in more zucchini, not a single plant of 5 has had a female flower! Had a similar issue last year. I really like the green stalk planter, but mine gets a really foul odour, very noticeable after watering. I can't figure it out. It drains fine and I always rinse out the bottom drainage container. Maybe it was just a bad soil choice when filling it. 🙁
I have following you over a year thank you your videos have helped me so much
My okra is very fibrous this year.
Enjoyed this video. Thanks for the great advice. ❤
The lantern flies are killing my grape. Any suggestions to get rid of them and stay organic? The only thing I’ve found that works is the shop vac.
Very cool. This inspired me to run out and plant more squash, cucumber and green onions!
So excited I found a gardening channel in my zone! Thanks for the great video!
Thank you.
Should we leave the old plant in the raised bed to break down for nutrients or pull the entire plant out & compost it if no disease??? Thank you so much in advance. ❤❤❤😊
This video is so helpful, thank you! I paused this and went right out to sow zucchini and more tomatoes. What variety tomato do you like for zone 7a? I tried rutgers but im not real impressed so am trying brandywine pink.
On the dreaded squash vine borer – has it been your experience that she won’t go after a young plant? I’m north of you, so is it safe to say she beats feet sometime in early August? I despise her – haven’t had a successful spring zucchini crop in 3 years. This year, on your advice, I chose to just wait for the fall planting.
Your videos give me focus and inspiration to get out in the garden. I don't need to give up or get discouraged it my season doesn't get off to the way I'd hoped. Weather has been intense here in Western Mass.
Hi! I did start some more seedlings indoors before I saw your video, and they have sprouted. If I put them in the ground and cover them with a half milk jug container, do you think they will survive? Thanks!
What state are you in? I'm in Oklahoma
Hi. Can’t find video for vine borer tubes you were talking about. TY
Zone 7 South Carolina. Timely and informative video. Just what I needed. Thank you!
Gary, give me your number… I’ll call you and remind you to “Lock the gate!!!” 😂😂😂
What zone are you growing in? I’m always curious where gardens are in the world compared to mine.
I have so much stuff in my garden that I am running out of room but want to keep planting! Its been so hot here in southern Michigan that I lost my cauliflower and red cabbage. I cleared the bed and put in pole lima beans, tomatoes, peppers and okra. Harvested my shallots and put jalapenos there. Dug up a couple of potato plants and put in patty pan squash. Harvested my shelling peas and put winter squash there. My green beans were getting beat up by the heat along with my pickle plants so I have been putting shade cloth up on everything that I can.
Hi Gary, did you say you had a video about using cardboard for trapping squash beetles? I searched but couldn't find one, so maybe I misheard you?
Thank you so much for the plethora of useful info!
If you smother your okra with a little bit of oil or bacon, grease and onions and cook it down until the slime comes out it’s really good to put in a gumbo
Everybody wants that first tomato. Nothing says summer like that first cuke.
Love the shelving idea for the watermelons! This year I made new trellises out of salvaged dog fencing and fence posts someone put to the curb…thanks for sharing your garden ideas!
Thanks for the detailed guide and planting tips, perfect for July gardeners!
I have a sneaky feeling that my spinach will just bolt if planted now. I think I'll wait a little while. I started 4 new varities of basil. I'm so excited!
I remember when the spotted lantern fly was first in the news out east. Not long ago I read they were seen in IL. This is why I cringe when I hear of people traveling with plants, ect because there is no way to ensure there are no eggs or live insects in whatever is transported.
The tree of heaven is their choice, but they are far reaching. I just read to vacuum them up or use insecticide and they are advocating for people to kill them and in some areas report them to local Ag dept. Natural deterrents are lavender, peppermint or tea tree oils. IV organics I believe has such a product. It’s awful that they are here and very few predators besides trapping. They are still researching.
How do you control them?
Gary,
Awesome video and tips on planting your Fall garden seeds!💖 Love that red greenstalk!👍 Thanks for sharing!🌺

I have nymph spotted lantern flies this year attacking my vegetable garden. How do you deal with this? They disseminated my chamomile plant but I have seen them on my zinnia’s too!
Hi, Love your videos! Lots of information, it’s much appreciated.
I just got my rusted garden greenstalk today!!! Love it.😎 Would you know of a dwarf okra I could plant in the greenstalk? Could you do a video on dwarf plants? That would be awesome😃 Thank you
