  1. How do you deal with changing seasons and keeping up plant density? For instance where I live, warm season crops can grow into November at times, and take up a lot of space. If I plant cool season crops in empty beds in the warm season, they get cooked. Do you utilize transplants?

  2. I grew pumpkins in my lawn this year, and had no pests. Except the squirrels, but a pillow case over the growing fruit solves that issue. If anything, I had less problems what when I was growing in bare soil, and I had to keep adding sand and much to keep the slugs off and prevent rotting.

  3. How long did it take you to create an ecosystem? Asking as in the country here near all the farm fields that spray so our little plot is a beacon to all the pests! I have natives in our yard, just nothing around our garden.

  4. I agree except mulch has a place, specifically I like it for trees and shrubs and as a tool to start a garden. Lay down cardboard and mulch to kill grass abd weeds and then over time fill in the space.

  5. I have those plastic owls and I also use rubber snakes, but this year in my garlic bed where I had three menacing plastic owls… A bunny decided it would be the perfect place to make a nest for all of her babies. I guess she just wasn’t scared.

  6. Mulch breaks down and continues the soil cycle. It reduces evaporation and stabilizes soil moisture which keeps beneficial bacteria cultures alive.

If you’re talking down mulch while pretending to know about gardening then you basically outed yourself.
