Privacy pantry! Love it. I don’t prefer close neighbors, but I do love old beautiful cities like this. Wish we kept everything aesthetically pleasing:)
I've grown way too much on my balcony… XD Because how my balcony is it can support A LOT of weight. So I've a few permanent plants, like small trees. Some garden beds, vertical planters attached to the wall. etc. And next year planning to go even further by adding some trellis arch's so climbing plants can grow above me XD
Our balcony is becoming an experience spot for the blackbird living around us. He brings different things: walnut, oak, berries, and even avocado! We tried to keep him out, but he kept coming back and made a mess in the soil. At this point, we've given up on the balcony. We co-live together.😅
I've been growing an apartment balcony vegetable, herb and flower garden for the past 25 years. This years garden includes a variety of flowers, 3 types of cherry tomatoes, 2 types of squash, 3 types of cucumber, peas, beans, Swiss chard, kale, strawberries, ground cherries, carrot, radish, sweet potatoes, Jerusalem artichokes, and ginger. This is all intensively planted in about 15 containers, plus a shelf for the herbs, a compost bin and seating for four (it's a narrow space, but has a decent length). – Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
4th year growing on balcony but first year on THIS balcony as we moved last fall. Peas, chard, lettuce, beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, cucamelons, zucchini, chives, basil, oregano, rosemary, mint, 6 different peppers from not spicy to super spicy, strawberries, raspberries, several nasturtium varieties, calendula, several marigolds, petunias, goldenrods, chamomile, bee balm, asters, wild bergamot, lily, geraniums, sorrel, Thai Basil, carrots, beets, dill, several types of radishes, I think that’s it.
Also made a worm composter. Heart of Toronto city Canada. Mostly grow bags, a few containers, looking forward to adding arbors and other ways to grow horizontally in the years to come. If I didn’t have to dedicate space to let the kids run around and play I’d grow a lot more!
This is my 3rd year growing on a balcony, I'm currently growing tomatoes, dill, 4 cucumber plants, lettuce, carrots, leeks, strawberries, bush beans, sugar snap peas and bell peppers.
Thank you for sharing. I garden on a small patio using some vertical planters. I must say though your garden is much more pleasing to the eye than mine
Looks beautiful! 🤩 this year was my second year with a balcony garden, and i grow a cucumber, a melon, a pumpkin, tomatoes, pepper, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, basil, sage, rosmary, oregano and some thyme. So far it was a good growing season🤩
Watching the sparrow eating the chard made me smile. Can't say the same thing about the doves that pulled all of my cosmos seedlings out of the soil! It's been 3 years and thinking about it still feels as disappointing as it was when it happened.
I’m growing on a balcony too!! Mine only gets the morning sun, so I have to pick more shade tolerant plants.
I’ve packed a lot in there , I have Swiss chard, green onions, bush beans (not doing too well) sweet potato vine, peppermint, Dichondra Silver Falls, beets, creeping Jenny, and coleus.
You really have to add 2 Ocimum basilicum – purple basil. They attract bumblebees which are the main pollinator for tomatoes. Chili and bell-pepper are best pollinated by a human with a brush.
❤️
I do not understand the Nasturtiums as pest control. In a small area like this, they attract so many aphids that the aphids spread to the other plant.

Ciao, invece per l'inverno?
May I ask how are you watering?
Smaller hose from inside, or ferrying watering cans to and from?!
Ha ha birdie birdie very enjoying your chard❤❤❤❤❤❤
Your content is amazing. Can you provide mode details of how you built the raised planter?

Amazing work on such small space!
We FINALLY got our deck stained after so much rain in June & July, now I get to fill it in with plants, so exciting!😊

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us 🙂 this looks absolutely beautiful!
This is beautiful, and inspiring me to get started this way
Just lovely 😊 How do yoy keep it so lush. My watering swing between yellow leaves to drying and keeling over.😅
This really make me motivated i try and the idea slowly disappear but i will try again i like how it feels like mini jungle in your balcony ❤
😍 lovely, i try to planet basil , tomato but i don't know what i need to do it right , is it better to grow in one pot or separately?
The sparrows love our chard too…and kale and lettuce!
