It’s no secret that I love ground covers. Yes, 🖐️ favorites… because I can’t pick just one… and honestly, picking just 5 was hard 😂🤣. Are your favorites on this list? What did I leave off!?

Wow, beautiful groundcovers and nice videography. I enjoyed this video from India.🎉
Here where I live Lamium can be extremely invasive in a flower bed
Stay away from lamium, aka dead nettle, and periwinkle. They're invasive. 🤨
Please find out if these are invasive.
Periwinkle is super invasive. So is autumn clematis.
Me likely! ❤
You are recommending aggressive plants that will get out of control. Disappointing.
how about listing some native ground covers instead
The family of 9 deer have decimated my yard.
plant native!!!
What is a shade tolerant ground cover native to Maine?
I lost ALL of my ajuga last winter. It was perfect, healthy, and lush. It spread like crazy and looked fabulous for at least 10 years. This spring it was all gone???
Lamium also makes a good erosion plant on slops and hills
Lamiums ( and Lamiastrums) can both be very invasive
strawberries and mint
Are any of these gopher resistant? :/
Love it. Thank you for mentioning Georgia 😊
Beautiful 🎉
❤🍄🌾🎄🍀🌷
Lamium is VERY invasive. Don't plant it.
History lesson: nearly 200 years ago, a boatload of flax came down the Mississippi, ostensibly to make linen with. It was contaminated with kochia, an insidious version of Russian Thistle. Where this stuff grows, nothing else grows. If Russia had never done anything else to us, this would be enough for Southwesterners to curse them until eternity. Groundcover is a myth here.
You’re so cute!!
Any herbs you recommend as ground covers? Double as medicinal and pest deterrent 🙏💗
you're mincing words with many of your commenters over the use of the word "invasive". maybe it would be easier if you just focused on the concept of "native" vs "non-native" instead. stop planting non-native plants. it's as simple as that. as long as it is non-native, it poses a potential threat, even if it doesn't currently seem like one in your region or neighborhood. non-natives also don't host insects or provide food for them in the way that native plants do. so make it easier on yourself, stop fussing over the word invasive and just opt for native plants.
Years ago we went to Kentucky to visit the monster in law. When we pulled up she had a guy pulling Ivÿ off of a tree and her home. I almost had a coronary event.
That's when I learned how destructive it can be. I'm near Hudson so Ivy dies off every winter and it's not a perennial so that eliminates those issues. English Ivy is one of those things that is sold at nurseries – but the cost depends on what you're buying it as. As a ground cover its sold like any other annual. Then….for some reason once it's put into a hanging basket as a houseplant, you need to take out a second mortgage….
None of theese will work in California in sun…speedwell' and veronica are an enviromental nightmare as is ivy.
Try simple alyssum …weed whack to 2 inches or so…every4 months…also increases water rentention.Nastursium fir shade frost frw…two from seed cheap…also Native Lupins.
Godspeed
Dee
We have ants. Cannot even plants without get personally eaten.
What about ground ivy? It's taking over our 2 acres of yard. 🫣
I like Pachysandra
Groundcovers are great! But maybe choose native groundcovers instead. Or, for something even more fun: strawberries! Sure they take over, but it's worth it if you love fresh strawberries.
Please list where these ground covers are native to because in America I do not want to use ones that are invasive
Extremely useful thank you for this G uk
I STILL have weeds popping up through the ground covers. It's a nightmare trying to get them out without pulling up the plant.
Lamium can go in FULL SUN or FULL SHADE… I have it in full sun where it gets 10 hours of sun a day. They do great in both places.
The honey badger of ground cover 😂
Ajuga will take over your entire garden and can not be eradicated. EVER .
Love ga blue speedwell
