We’re now nearly at the end of October, and the vegetable garden is cloaked in russet leaves and plump squashes! This month’s vegetable garden tour celebrates that glorious moment when summer’s last tomatoes flirt with autumn’s first frosts. Join me as I wander through the beds, checking on the greens still flexing their leafy muscles, the squash that have been quietly taking over the vegetable plot and make a mental list of the jobs that need doing this week.
We will also be touring the polytunnel to uncover what’s still soldiering on inside, from late-season curiosities to the plants refusing to give up without a jolly good fight. I share the must-do kitchen kitchen garden jobs for October too, including tucking the veg patch in for those cooler nights, sowing hopeful seeds for winter salads, weeding and sprucing up the compost like the garden’s very own duvet fluffing.
If you love cosy garden pottering, seasonal tips, and a peek at real-life growth (muddy boots included), you’re in the right place. Pop the kettle on, pull up a pumpkin, and come enjoy this crisp and colourful stroll around the autumn kitchen garden! 🍂🥕🌱

About this channel
We’ve created content showing the things we love doing, in and around the beautiful county of Norfolk on the East Coast of England. This started with Gardeners Cottage in the wonderful North Norfolk village of Blakeney, which started as a weekend getaway from the pressures of self-employment and ended up as a full-time holiday let after we moved full time to Norfolk.
Blakeney is a great holiday destination for families and a lovely place for a weekend away with friends or as a couple. If you would like to book a family holiday or weekend away in Blakeney on the North Norfolk coast or find out more about Blakeney and the surrounding areas in North Norfolk please do visit our website
Our life revolves around crazy dogs, keeping three large country gardens growing and eating well!
Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe to Gardeners Cottage Blakeney for more gardening tips from Kate & Mike! Any questions please pop them in comments, we are happy to answer.
