They didn't care about what the family wanted in the first place and made this giant eyesore in the middle of a beautiful village. Also, I don't know how the weather is there, but the aluminum ceiling might turn the room to an oven in the summer and a freezer in the winter according to my experience. I don't know how this architect wln a prize, but none of his works seemed appealing! God, it's really bad …

They did that extention $50,000? Amazing!

I love that this show provides ordinary folks the opportunity to enjoy extraordinary living spaces. Working with renowned architects automatically means more time and money will be required in the rebuild. I love the change! The open living/dining/kitchen area with high-rounded ceiling & round skylights liven up that big room. Add the doors to the outside and it makes one feel like they're one with nature. The wide entry going all the way back is welcoming and perfect size for a Christmas tree and a great dance space. This build has rekindled my passion for designing again! Well done George Clarke!

Industrial Agricultural shed for housing chickens .

The post-war architects were responsible for the destruction of many beautiful buildings and the creation of these “shoe-boxes”. .

Gosh according to this renovation England has beautiful pleasant weather so having high ceilings expensive folding doors to enjoy the outside weather doesn’t cause concern for energy conservation.

I don't see industrial. I see agricultural. Either way, it doesn't "go" with the rest of the community, but it looks COOL! And it is so wonderful for opening up the space and adding light. Light is always a good thing.

First look is stressing, but very similar roofs had been instaled in earlier ages on the buildings of dukes. So, after some years aluminium will passivate and the look will be more acceptable for everybody.

Dramatic as it is, if I was the homeowner I would prefer a standard pitched roof with skylights and used the leftover funds to complete the bedrooms & bathroom. Spending close to $40000 for just the roof is insane!

Ehhh. The external rounds are too massive. If the roof was kept more low-profile it would flow better.

Tammy and Stuart bought this house because it was within their budget. Then their reno budget is chucked out the window — big time! — for an extension project that still doesn't light up a dark entranceway without artificial lighting, looks like it belongs to another building in another neighbourhood, and leaves them with unfinished bedrooms and no ensuite. This might make good watching, but how does it serve the clients? It's too bad the architect used this house for his own vision instead of staying within the parameters of his clients' wishes. Why was this architect chosen?

I love this but…there is no insulation in the roof? Is there?

I wonder how loud it is inside that room during heavy rains…

I hooped a real designer would build propper and not the english way.. besides why does he make it moor hiddieus than what is was? that does not fit in the tipical english houses..

I hate that roof. And how come these arhitects design these sometimes weird looking houses for other people but theirs looks "normal"? Hm.

It is so terrible! Only 1 bathroom for 3 bedrooms, no wardrobe near entrance and new roof without any isolation! In summer it`ll be like greenhouse, but in the winter all the warm will go through it! Is there a real architect? Don`t think so.

How cold will that big room get in winter?

Lmao what a stupid design. The room is still so dark during the day. On top of that they went 40k over budget.

Lovely, But I think client would have applauded more if the design was within budget and still distinctive. Kudos all the way.

Where are the bedrooms??

Noooo! 1. It looks like a factory from outside. 2. The architect might be an artist but needs lessons in Reading the room. What he likes is unimportant. Not for me!!

Extension looks very different from rest of the house, although indoors look pretty good. But it's still one large open space. I would be worried about heating bills during winter and overheating in summer.

It’s like the 1970’s houses in the US

The owners got bamboozled – the 40k extra-cost roof was utterly unnecessary – they could have attained an even better effect with straight beams, conventional roof-tiles and more conventional roof-windows – or even glass-house roof-window design. They had a 50k budget and could have saved 40k while having an extension that achieves the same or more. Sure – from the outside there would be nothing special, but honestly in a village it does not have to be. This episode literally abused inexperienced unaware people. What they praised is what most architects would have proposed anyway since the setup is nothing special – the super-expensive roof design is that cost an arm and a leg without any reason.

£90,000 and they are screwed money-wise and still have a mess and a long way to go. The addition is amazing but the show seemed to really want a show stopper and not what the people needed. How often will the expensive glass wall be opened with the tropical, South Pacific weather of Sussex? I hope the family didn't go broke because of the show.

Personally, I love aluminum. But, I'm wondering how the PORTALS are doing with all the RAIN. They are not on a vertical surface like on a lot of his work. I bet they have to replace those. What about insulation and air flow? Won't the aluminum be like a uninsulated hot tin box? Also, the ends of the aluminum have not been sealed properly. They should be capped. This is going to be a HOT and LEAKY addition. And, that aluminum makes a very loud roof when it rains. Just FYI. Also, where the aluminum joins the house, did they put in a drainage system? It wasn't mentioned. I sure hope so, or you'll have rain coming off the metal roof and going under the shingles. Also, you'll have to be fully dressed to enjoy the kitchen or living room, as there are no window coverings at all.

First and foremost the extension looks completely different from the whole house as if it's a rv parked outside the house secondly the architect took two bedrooms from them and left them with one they are three people they atleast deserved 2 bedrooms what abt the kid this design is bad secondly the whole point of the flip was to bring in more light from the entrance they were ok with the old extension with water leakage fixed. Even in the final product they had to turn on a bunch of lights in the entrance in order to show that they did transform something absolutely rubbish .
