What could you possibly sow in January? Quite a bit as it turns out! In this week’s episode Ben shows us how to sow some warm-season staples, a super-early crop of salad carrots, plus some sweet-and-juicy strawberries. If you thought January was a time for hunkering down and waiting till spring… think again!

So glad I came across your page. I'm in Augusta Georgia and I want to grow ginger. Still learning. If I planted my ginger now in the middle of April would that be okay? And is Georgia a good climate for ginger?
I find it so funny and ironic that in most of the videos I've seen so far, it's always cloudy. Lol.
That wasn't vermiculite. It was Perlite.
What variety were the strawberry seeds please?

Hi Ben and hivemind – advice on this please! I followed the suggestion here and sowed chilli and aubergine in Jan. They've done great under grow lights and now need pricking out. Problem is I don't have the space to grow them on under my small lights indoors, as Feb sowings are getting under way.
Will the chilli and aubergine seedlings grow on in an unheated greenhouse? or is it still too cold and/or dark out there? (South-West UK climate)
Any advice welcome!
Great reuse of the placemats at the end of the growlight contraption!😂 I have the same ones somewhere unused in a drawer.
I always find the need to plant all of the seeds in the package which works well for some crops, but some get overcrowded. Should I depend on all of the seeds germinating or plant more sparsely or just plant them all and thin out after they germinate?
great tips
As always love it 🙂
How often should I water the seeds before they germinate?
That's perlite, not vermiculite.
Zone 4b here in Eastern Canada so I think I may need to wait another month although I'm dying to get at it lol (-22C overnight the next 2 days)
