Those weeds are winter weeds that typically die off once it gets hot and they do break off in the soil like that, but they'll come back quick like a bunny!

Quick question though, wouldn't letting the weeds lay on top of the dirt as if you showed on those clumps that are not as deep but they're not seedlings, allow them to somehow re-penetrate and regrow because their roots are still intact?

Compost in place?? Why wouldn’t the weeds just immediately start growing again since they’re in the dirt? Pulling the roots out only does so much if they are still in contact with dirt

It involves me getting up.

Doing that will actually make it worse u will have more weed than u ever had. Instead apply a layer of mulch over your weeds and they will dry out.

Will work on most of the weeds, but won't on horse tail 😉 Also after you do that try not to step on it as they can easily grow back. Let them dry out, the best when it's done on a dry day.
