  1. I feel like an absolute idiot because I’m killing my mint that I started a month or so ago in a container. Most of the rest of my herbs in my new herb garden are doing fine but the mint looks particularly sad. I knew it needed to be in its own container as I’m always telling people that mint wants to take over the world. I’m a reasonably decent vegetable gardener so I’m at a loss for what I could be doing wrong. Fresh soil with good organic matter, good drainage in the pot, but the bottom part near the soil is brown and yellow. Sheesh, I thought mint was next to impossible to kill but look at my skills here! I should mention that I can’t get rid of the mint that has grown under the fence from my neighbor’s house and up from underneath my raised beds…. 😛

  2. Thank you so much for sharing this information for free. It’s so fascinating and helpful! I now have my own amateur garden on my city balcony 😍 it’s a wonderful way to connect with nature where I am.

  3. I have grown mint and basil in pots for a few years. Last year the pots were adjacent. After picking some basil I noticed it tasted all wrong. Upon closer inspection of the plant, I noticed it had a reddish colored stem. also, a distinctly mint flavor. I guess they cross pollinated—didn't know that'd happen.

  4. Fun little thing I learned from my grandmothers mistake-
Don’t plant mint directly in the ground, always separate it into its own pot or it will never leave. It will take over.
Many know this already, but I am devious and also have a tendency to hold long term grudges.

So, if anyone ever messes with me, minty is going to have a child and I will be placing them into the unwitting care of whomever made me angry. Not by giving it to them, no that’s not enough, by planting it in a small corner of their yard. Watch as their entire yard slowly is overtaken by mint, and by the time they even notice it’s there… it’s too late.
Of course, I can be easily counteracted by people who know what the plant is or by simply not having a yard… but I can hold a grudge long enough that if they ever get one, especially an unkept one… muahaha
Sadly, I’ve never gotten the chance to do this, though I’d love to.

Edit: I would like to clarify, for this man’s sake, that these sorts of videos will not be aiding my revenge. The entire plan I have is not aided by proper watering or any of that, as I’d be caught in a second. No, the plan is just a nonsensical thing that I’ll probably never get to do. If I hate someone that much, I usually avoid them and never learn their address.

  5. At my house (parents house) We had a mint planr and they planted it jn the ground snd it's taken over one spit ijntje front yard and its growing in the cracks of rhe concrete between the garage and the driveway

  6. I am thinking of planting mint right in the ground. I have so many stinging ants and mosquitoes. And I don't think I care if it overgrows. Any one else do this?

  7. Still looking for the difference between yerba buena and "spearmint". A company called Bonnie Plants sent me a "Spearmint (yerba buena)" plant, but that doesn't seem right according to the research I'm doing.

  8. I know mint takes over. I planted mine in a grow bag and I have the correct amount of respect and fear for it. And it STILL shocked me just how quickly it grows. I feel like you could sit and actually see it grow. I bought 2 plants a month ago and they’re already so big I have no idea what I’m going to do with it all!
